Summer vacation season is winding down. And even though the high temperatures continue to make us sweat, school supply shopping is just around the corner. Before long, kiddos will be boarding yellow buses and packing yellow pencils, meeting new teachers in shiny new shoes, and embarking on the 2017-2018 school year.
Beginning in early June, we asked our American Consumer Opinion® members what their plans were for summer vacation. We left the poll open for a month and a half, hoping to get as many answers as possible. Our members came through, and with a total of 4,882 votes, we've compiled their answers.
What are your plans for vacation this summer?
A significant slice of American Consumer Opinion® members polled (33%) said that they were not planning on taking a vacation at all in 2017. A whopping 43% indicated that they would be taking a summer vacation within the United States, either outside of their home state (22%) or within their state of residence (21%, aka a "staycation"). A lucky few (16%) of respondents reported that they would be traveling internationally. Eight percent said that they would be vacationing this year—just not during the summer.
